Finding my Photography Style

Thursday 21 May 2015

I've been really struggling with my photography recently. I love taking photographs and have been thinking about taking it further but I'm a bit unsure about what my style is. I definitely prefer capturing moments where the subject doesn't know I'm taking the picture (okay that sounds kind of creepy but you know what I mean haha) as opposed to 'posed' pictures but I've been feeling pretty uninspired of late.

Some of my favourite pictures of Lily are ones where I've caught her unaware, mid laugh or else running outside in the middle of some sort of pretend game. However the recent bout of bad weather in the UK means we haven't really got out of the house much and I therefore haven't had chance to snap away like I usually would outdoors and I miss it.

I adore natural light photography but I really think I could benefit from taking better indoor photographs too.. I've seen bloggers take some really lovely ones but I just can't figure out my cameras settings to get the right kind of indoor lighting and whatnot. So if anyone has any sort of 'indoor photography for dummies' links..send em my way, tips are always welcome!

I'm just sort of thinking out loud with this blog post to be honest. I really do enjoy photography so hopefully I'll get where I want to be if I persevere and keep practising and enjoying it along the way.

Are you a keen photographer? What sort of things do you like taking pictures of?

  3. you get some great pictures of Lilly, you should definately take it further, I think you would enjoy it. I wish i'd have gone further when I had the chance. more 'natural' photos are much nicer, I agree. have you thought about getting one of those umbrella light things for better lighting indoors? I don't know how people do it if i'm honest xx

  5. I love taking photos and often ponder about finding a style or doing more myself, I too love taking natural photos outdoors and it is hard to find inspiration when the weathers bad. I have no tips but your photos are great so I guess just keep snaping away :)
