Sunday 23 August 2015

A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015

The pure delight as she got in and out of the paddling pool in our back garden, splashing me as she went

The Weekend

This weekend has been as much about 'getting through' as the rest of my days are at the moment really. We've been out and about and done things but I havent really been able to enjoy them & I think Lily picked up on that a bit this weekend as she's been a bit more grouchy than she normally would be.

On Saturday afternoon we decided to go for a mooch to the playground. Truth be told I'd been throwing up all morning and wasn't really in the mood but Lily ended up having a 2hr nap at lunchtime and so we needed to do something in the afternoon to tire her out as neither me or James wanted to face the consequences of her staying up till all hours that evening!

After the playground we dropped Lily round at her cousin Ava's as she'd been invited round for tea. She was dead excited, bless her, as although she sees Ava a lot it's always at Grandma & Grandads and never actually at Ava's house so this was a first! They had a great time together although absolutely trashed the place apparently haha.

It was in this 2 hour slot that me and James decided we would convert Lily's cot into a big girls bed. We've been uhming and ahing over it for a while but finally decided to do it and Lily's face when she got home was a picture, she was so so pleased with it!

The first night in her new bed wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. She fell out of it once and woke up one more time when her bear fell out but she didn't wake up in the morning till 6.40 (great for her!) and never once got out of bed herself so I see that as a result. I'll probably do a post in a week or two's time talking about how the transition seems to have gone, but so far so good.

Sunday was a total write off. I've been feeling too ill to do anything and so we opted for a day of staying inside and doing as little as possible. The weather was beautiful this afternoon and so we got the paddling pool out and Lily had a good splash in there, although it was pretty short lived as she kept getting annoyed by all the bugs flying about..

It got to about 4pm and Lily was practically crawling the walls with boredom so we went round to my mums for a coffee and so Lily could have a play in their (bigger and better) garden. I'm glad we went as it turned out a big cuddle and some words of wisdom from my mum was exactly what I needed after a day of feeling sorry for  myself! I do love her so!

How was your weekend?
