Zoflora Lavender Scented Disinfectant Review

Tuesday 15 September 2015

I'm such a mum but I love a good and effective cleaning product!

The first thing I did when I received the Zoflora disinfectant was open it to smell it. I noticed that the packaging said it was lavender scented and was intrigued to see what this would smell like, as my experience of other leading brands are that they tend to be citrus such as lemon, lime, orange or even apple. Even then they always have an overpowering 'chemical smell' about them; that distinctive disinfectant smell.

To my surprise though when I unscrewed the lid, I was met with a lovely smell which indeed smelled like lavender and had absolutely no trace of chemical-ly smells.  In fact, I can honestly say that if someone approached me with the product in an unlabelled bottle and asked me to guess what it was on smell alone, I would have guessed some sort of scented bath fragrance or a bubble bath mixture.

The product has many different uses including as a general disinfectant throughout your home (diluting as necessary for certain areas or even using neat in tiled areas such as the bathroom). It can even be used diluted down and put into a spray bottle to fragrance your home which I think is a fantastic idea as it smells lovely! Lavender is a great choice of fragrance in my opinion, there's something about it that just smells so fresh and clean. I actually have a lavender scented freshener that sits in my Henry hoover and pumps out lovely smells whilst I vacuum!

Where to use Zoflora:
  • Floors
  • Baths
  • Tiles
  • Taps
  • Worktops
  • Drains
  • Sinks
  • Dishcloths
  • Toilets
  • Potties
  • Hard surface pet areas

I tested it out the disinfectant by giving the kitchen, hallway and downstairs toilet floor a long overdue mop (I tend to use my usual apple fragrance disinfectant for this). I have no complaints at all. The product diluted down well (1:40) which means that one 10ml cap full provides you with 400ml of solution; the whole bottle therefore gives you 4.8 litres of full strength disinfectant. The disinfectant cleaned just as well as other popular leading brands when put to work with mopping our laminate floors, but with the added bonus of not smelling like chemicals. I actually think that the fresh lavender smell stayed around longer than the apple scented disinfectant we usually use.

The disinfectant kills 99.9% of bacteria & viruses which means it's just as effective as all of the other leading brands out there at the moment. It's nice to know that I can safely use it to clean down the worktops, including the table where my daughter eats, safe in the knowledge that Zoflora will leave it nice and clean! It would be great to buy in a spray bottle to spray down surfaces in the kitchen and wipe clean, although as it suggests on the packaging, I'll probably add it to one of my bottles once they become empty (my current disinfectant spray is running low so will soon to be replaced).

I can honestly say that the Zoflora disinfectant has impressed me and exceeded my initial expectations. Not only does it smell lovely but it kills as many of the nasty little germs as all of the other leading brands of disinfectant out there, plus it dilutes down well so should last me a very long time.
