Lily's Third Birthday Presents

Wednesday 21 October 2015

This year I may have gone sliightly over the top for Lily's third birthday. I wasn't going to, I swear!  I was actually planning on getting her less for her birthday this year as christmas is right around the corner but the toys she's playing with nowadays are so much more fun than the toys she was playing with around her first and second birthday and so I may have got slightly carried away with the shopping, it was so much fun!

A lot of her presents were done on the cheap though and are from jumble sales, ebay or else bought with online vouchers so I guess I dont feel toooo bad! ;)

First of all I picked up this ELC van from a jumble sale for 50p! It was in bad condition when I found it but I just knew it would be something Lily would play with so I got my decorating head on and decided to give it a spruce up. When I bought it it was horrible stark white and dark green colour and looked rather grubby. After cleaning it I bought a small pot of duck egg grey and freshened it up and although it's not completely finished yet (I want to take out the side windows as they are cracked) I'm really pleased with how it looks now.

This wooden dolls pram I also found at the same jumble sale and bought for a couple of pounds. I've been eyeing one up for Lily for ages but couldn't justify spending £15-£20 on one when she already has a plastic dolls pram so it was a good find.

I bought Lily these Sylvanian sets from Ebay a while back and have been keeping them safe in the cupboard for her birthday. I absolutely adored sylvanians as a kid and so I've been really keen for Lily to get into them too. I bought her a set of four sylvanians a while back and she loves them so now I've added to her collection by buying lots more. Little tip - if you scour ebay for sylvanians there's always sellers selling them on for a fraction of the price that they are in toy stores :)

I also wanted a little house or something for the sylvanians to go in so I was delighted when I won this 'Berry Grove School' on Ebay for just £10. As an added bonus it came with all the furniture so I dont have to go out and buy it all separately.

Wilkinsons have a great 'Woodland Creatures' range out at the moment and I absolutely fell in love with it all when I saw it. This rabbit family is adorable and was only £10 (they sell individual characters for cheaper too) and the pram and cot for the rabbits were only £3 each. To be honest I'm not 100% sure if I'll be giving Lily these for her birthday or for christmas yet as they'll make great little stocking fillers.. it depends if I can wait that long to give her them or not!

Lily's main present this year is a dolls house. I've known for ages that I wanted to get her a dolls house for her third birthday and I've spent what feels like ages looking for a lovely wooden one that wont break the bank. After uhming and ahing between this one and one from George at Asda I finally went for this one from Argos and I'm so pleased I did.

This dolls house is £30.00 so only £5.00 cheaper than the Asda one but what gave it the edge for me was the fact that the back opens out into a little garden which I think Lily will love. It also came with some furniture sets and 2 dolls included in the price which meant I didn't have to go out and buy everything separately.

That being said I did go on to buy this wooden doll set from Asda for £6.00. I couldn't help myself!

I bought Lily this headwear from an online facebook group. I knew I wanted a crown for her to wear on her birthday and have seen some beautiful liberty print ones on Instagram but just couldn't justify the price. I love this one in all its tacky sparkly glory though - If you can't go tacky on your birthday then when can you! I also love these two white bows and they'll go perfectly with Lily's party dress - Look out for photo's on my Instagram on the day if you'd like to see:)

Lily's obsessed with colouring at the moment and so when I spotted this colouring book in Wilkos for £1 I had to get it! The pens were only 10p too

Lastly we got Lily this balance scooter. Just like the dolls house I knew we were definitely going to get Lily a scooter for her birthday and this one seemed like the perfect one. It's from George at Asda and what's great about it is that it has a pull down seat so that Lily has the choice to use the scooter like a bike too if she prefers.

If you've been stuck with what to get your three old I hope this gives you some ideas. I cant wait to see Lily open this lot, I'm not sure whose more excited to play with it all - me or her!

  1. Lovely presents. Love all the wooden toys they are so cute and got some bargains! Haven't seen Sylvanian Families since I was little. We got the Argos dolls house last Christmas and it's been great, I got the Asda one originally but it was missing pieces and like you said the Argos one was cheaper. xx

  2. My son has lost his Wilko Mr Rabbit. From the Woodland friends collection. Do you know where I can find a replacement? Am literally scouring the internet as Wilkos don't sell them any more and came across your blog and it's his favourite toy! 😭
