2015 From Start To Finish

Thursday 31 December 2015

2015 has been busy busy busy and I've loved every second of it. Looking ahead to 2015 this time last year I think I was expecting it to be a lot more peaceful than it was. Well as peaceful as it can be with a toddler by your side. I spent 2014 working hard at Uni and graduating and I remember thinking 2015 would be a year to relax and spend one on one time with Lily before getting back into full time work for 2016.

I was right in some ways - the quality time me and Lily have had this year has been amazing. From breakfast dates to more walks in the woods that I can count, we've had so many adventures the two of us. But it's been far from peaceful let me tell you!

January brought us snow, resolutions and the start of the 52 project and in February James turned 25 . I actually captured some of my favourite photos of James and Lily together that day.

The months of March through to early June were my favourite months of the whole year. I adore spring, the weather was just fab and it was pre pregnancy time for me so hypermesis hadn't had chance to arrive and kick my butt yet! We did lots of exploring in those months of spring, I turned 25 too and we had such a lovely holiday in Filey with James' family.

With Summer came our pregnancy announcement, and a change to our lives forever. Although I spent most of the good weather in bed thanks to pregnancy related issues it was still one of my most treasured summers so far because Lily seemed so incredibly happy the entire time. She really is in her element when it comes to the outdoors

August ended pretty suddenly which I was bummed about but September brought some of the biggest milestones by far. We transitioned Lily to her big girl bed which I found surprisingly emotional and then came Lily's first day of preschool which is a day that will stick with me forever. I remember sitting in the nearby Starbucks that day with my anxiety levels through the roof, worrying I'd made the wrong decision for her. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I made this year.

October brought us a cracking halloween and more importantly Lily's third birthday. As my pregnancy has progressed and the sickness died down, time has sped up enormously. Winter came in a flash and we had our last getaway as a family of three before enjoying christmas together to see this year to a perfect end.

That's not to say there hasn't been hard parts of the year however. This pregnancy has been tough, tougher than I was expecting which you can see in my first trimester diary. I had some wobbles about Lily prefering grannys house to ours haha, struggled to entertain her during the cold weather and I've even had a bit of writing block along the way.

It's been interesting to look back on these posts and see how my blogging style has changed from the start of the year. I'm much more confident in my posts now and I think I'm becoming a lot more organised and as a result my blog is becoming more aesthetically pleasing, which can only be a good thing!

It's been an unexpectedly hectic year, but in the best possible way. This year has been the year I've really found my love for photography and editing. The year my little girl has really grown up before my eyes and the first time I've truly felt happy and settled in a home of my own. Now 2016..I'm ready for you!
