Christmas Day 2015

Tuesday 29 December 2015

Christmas has been about family more than ever this year which is exactly what I wanted. Christmas day was spent with everyone - grandparents, cousins, aunties and uncles, nephews and nieces, siblings in law..and to me that's what Christmas is all about. Lily is just at my favourite age right now, especially for Christmas, she's been so excited by it all and that made it so special for me and James.

Christmas Eve was a relaxed day. We did a lot of crafting and spent the evening preparing everything for santa and rudolf which Lily loved doing. We put out mince pies and a carrot and Lily sprinkled her reindeer food before writing a last letter to Santa to leave out with the food. This was my favourite part of the evening as she spent so long writing out what she wants and went round the room asking all her toys what they wanted and writing it all down for them too. She put so much care and attention into it, it was so cute!

Christmas morning was spent at home. The first thing Lily said when we went into her room was 'Has father christmas been? I think he has!'
James had left a flour trail in the hallway with santa and rudolfs footprints in so it was the first thing she saw coming down the stairs. Her little face was a picture!

At lunchtime we went to James parents for more present opening and then on to my parents for some food. My parents were having an oven disaster and we ended up not eating till about 5 and so Lil went down for a nap at 3ish to refuel. She was so well behaved all day, I couldn't believe it. I thought there'd be at least one tantrum but nope! She loves being around all the family and loves being the centre of attention so really I think she was just in her element haha. After more present opening and the worlds biggest family quiz we eventually got home for midnight. Lily asked if she could have one last cuddle with me before bed and even though it was so late how could I say no!? So we wrapped up in her new frozen blanket and had a bit of quiet time on the sofa. She's taken to kissing and stroking the bump a lot recently which is adorable and it really was just the perfect end to a lovely day.

(Lets ignore the fact that me and James thought we'd get a lie in the next day after such a late night.. no chance..she still got up at 7 on the dot haha)

How did you celebrate your christmas? I hope everyone had a great day too!
