Archers First Week

Saturday 6 February 2016

It's crazy to say that Archer is now a week old. 9 days to be exact!  It's been a hectic week. A juggling act between toddler and baby that I'm still getting my head around but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

Lily's first meeting with Archer was amazing, one of those perfect moments me and James weren't expecting to have. After ringing Lil from the hospital and her telling us she didn't want a brother she only wanted a sister and then refusing to speak to us I was expecting a negative reaction when we got home but oh my god the love between them was evident from the moment she walked in the room and saw him. She immediately asked to hold him, kissed his head, hands, cheeks and brought him all her favourite toys over. I cried! There's footage of that over on my YouTube channel if anyone's interested in seeing :)

I dont have many photos from this week. Which is kind of annoying as I'd like to have documented his first week more but my mind has understandably been on a million and one other things. A lot of the photos I have taken are Iphone pictures so you'll have to excuse the quality but I have to admit it's been ten times easier to get out my phone and snap than it has been to get out the DSLR and fiddle with the settings.
Luckily Lily's been at nursery for the first half of the week so me and James have had time to settle in with Archer. I think it's been good for Lily to keep her routine going so she still has that bit of normality amongst the un-organized chaos that is our house right now. I thought she might struggle going back to nursery after Archers arrival but so far so good as there's only been a minimal amount of clinginess when we drop her off in the morning. When she gets back from nursery she's so tired that she's happy to veg infront of the tele under a blanket with us which suits us all perfectly right now.

The second half of the week has sped by considering most of it has been indoors. We did manage to take a short walk on Thursday, James birthday, which was lovely and oh so refreshing to get out of the house. I've been itching to get out again, especially as I barely left the house in the last few months of my pregnancy as well but problems with mastitis has unfortunately left me pretty house bound so far. I can't wait to be able to get out properly again!

So what is life really like with two children? Of course its still early days - the house is a constant state, if Archers not crying then Lily's tantruming over not being able to find a certain colour pen and once again warm cups of tea are a thing of the past but I keep reminding myself to ride with it. Yes I'm the kind of person that likes/needs to be in a routine but the unpredictable world of having a newborn doesn't last long and with time a routine will come.

Some of my favourite Iphone photo's from the last week..

1. Welcome to the world!
2. One week old today
3. The feeling of joy I had after I tidied the living room was so great I had to take a picture haha
4. I love this photo because it just sums up life with two small children. one in your arms and one clinging to your legs!
5. The most beautiful and perfect card I have ever received. From Lily to Archer. My mum asked her what she wanted to put in her card whilst we were in the hospital and this is what she said word for word, bless her
6. Of course having a big sister means having lipstick put on you at 9 days old

Honestly mothering two children really is just about as hectic and daunting as I thought it would be. But with it there's already a feeling of completion I wasn't expecting to have. I'm so happy and content with my little family and so looking forward to what the future holds.

  4. Oh my goodness he is adorable and the story of his big sister brought a tear to my eye. The first 2 weeks with 2 are the hardest but it does get easier. At least your daughter likes him. My Boo wasn't so sure and still has never asked to hold him hehe Thanks for linking up #MaternityMondays
