Archers 4 Month Update

Monday 13 June 2016

As I'm typing this I've realised that it's exactly a year ago today that I had my positive pregnancy test. That is such a strange thought to me right now. That this time last year I had no idea who the little person in my belly would be. Arch was nothing but a teeny tiny bean of hope at the time and now here he is, happy and healthy and making our family complete. Amazing.

4 months has been a rocky month for us NGL! Teething has hit with a vengance and we've been dealing with temperatures, grumpiness and bottle strikes because of it.
Last week especially was hard because Arch was red cheeked and miserable the whole week. There was no cheering him up and I was scared he was going to get dehydrated with the lack of milk. I think the teething also coincided with a big leap so you can imagine what fun that was but we got through it!

Physically Arch seems so much stronger this month. He's so close to rolling back to front. If you leave him on his back he ends up on his side and he's started manoeuvring himself 360 degrees by kicking his legs. He's discovered both his hands and legs now (I reckon that's what last weeks leap was about) and is now happily batting all the things dangling on his play mat, meaning he's starting to spend a bit more time on the floor which is a nice break for my arms! He's started lifting his legs right up in the air, bringing them forward and grasping on to his knees and this seems to keep him entertained for a good while! He's definitely getting a lot more mobile.

He giggles all the time now too. My favourite sound! but it always ends up with him having the hiccups bless him. I still need to get his second lot of jabs done but there just hasn't been a good time recently what with his teething and his general mood. Once he's had them I'm planning to take him swimming which Lily is super excited about!

I've noticed a bit of a routine with his naps recently. He tends have a 45 minute-1 hour nap about an hour after he wakes in the morning, so usually around 8pm. Then he'll tend to be awake for the rest of the morning till lunchtime when he'll have a power nap of about 20-30 minutes. Between 3-4pm he'll fall asleep again and stay asleep till James gets back from work at half 5. he'll then fall asleep whilst feeding around Emmerdale time at 7pm and sleep all evening in our arms until we bring him up to bed with us around 11pm.
We were intending to start putting him to bed in our room at 7 so we could have our evenings to ourselves, especially since he sleeps all evening on us anyway however our room is so so light that we're having to hold off until we have the funds for some black out blinds (how expensive are they it's insane!)

This month you are
  • In 6-9 months clothing. Chunky boy!
  • Getting more hair. It's coming through on top and is still blonde.
  • In size 3 nappies
  • Waking every 2.5 hours in the night for a feed and has a feed every 3 hours during the day
  • Still breastfeeding and having bottles
  • Weighing 18lbs 6
& as always, some Iphone photo's from month 4
