Weekend Watch - 30.7.16

Monday 1 August 2016

This week has been so much fun! James has had it booked off work for a while and whilst we couldn't do everything we had planned on our to do list thanks to the weather (bye bye seaside!) we still managed to fit a lot in to the few days of sun we did have.

On Wednesday we went to Harlow Carr in Harrogate. I do love that place! For anyone who hasn't heard of it it's basically the most beautiful flower gardens with several adventure playgrounds (and an absurd amount of pokestops if you're a Pokemon Go fan!) There always seems to be something going on at Harlow Carr, the first time we went there was a mini beast hunt and this time there was a children's show about space (less educational and more about giving kids the opportunity to throw sponges at men in astronaut costumes..Lily loved it!)

I intend to do a detailed blog post on Harlow Carr as part of my Leeds Living with Kids section as there's just too much to talk about in this post. Looking back at these photos I cant believe how grown up both kids are looking actually!

The next day me and James took the kids to Sundown adventure land. We've been a couple of times before, mainly at christmas as they put on a lot of seasonal things around that time but I'm so glad we decided to come back in the summer too. The day ended up being baking hot and it meant we could take our time and actually go on all the rides rather than rush around because of the cold. It also meant Lily could go on the water rides as it was the kind of sun that dried out wet clothes in minutes. She took advantage and went on it several times..we even took Arch on it although he didn't have quite the same enthusiasm for being squirted in the face by pop up pirates as we drifted round on a log flume haha.
Everytime I've been to Sundown I've vlogged for my yt channel and this time both me and James decided to leave our cameras at home and just enjoy ourselves. Turned out to be the best decision for us, I felt so relaxed not constantly filming and snapping away and the whole day just sped by.

We ended the weekend by visiting Newby Hall in Harrogate. It's been recommended to us by a few people but to be honest I wasn't quite prepared for how good it actually was! I was expecting a small park with maybe a mini adventure playground but it's absolutely huge with a country house and beautiful gardens that were so big we didn't manage to get round it all. There was a boating lake, water park, a giant sand pit and a really cute little miniature train ride which was my highlight!

We may not have been able to afford a 'proper' holiday this summer but this week has definitely made up for that.
Its been perfect
