Happy Days - January

Sunday 22 January 2017

I'm sitting at my currently VERY messy kitchen table, writing this post. I'm picking at Lily's cold leftover lunch because I'm starving and haven't had chance to eat whilst wondering which one of my kids has gotten felt tip on the high chair. I've just got Archer to nap after a morning of whinging and constant feeding and dear god I need coffee. But I'm happy. Really happy actually. Because this is all normal stuff. No dramas or tensions. Stressful yes but just normal day to day family life kind of stressful rather than the world is about to cave in kind of stressful and that feels like some what of a blessing right now.

You'd probably have to know the week I've just had to understand why that means so much to me and it sounds confusing as I'm not ready to talk about it whatsoever but all I need to say, for now, is that I really am spending this weekend appreciating the normality of our day to day routine.

We decided on a whim yesterday to freshen up our living room. Both me & James have felt really hemmed in by the amount of toys that have accumulated over Christmas and Lily's birthday and so we thought it would be a good idea to get some more storage. & so off to Ikea we went.
It turns out it wasn't such a great idea though. You'd think at 5pm on a Saturday people would have better things to do but apparently not as Ikea was the busiest I've ever seen it. After driving around for a good twenty minutes trying to find a parking space giving up and going back to our sh*t tip of a living room was looking like a better prospect but we did eventually find one and we came home with our new storage unit (and about a billion photo frames we probably don't need but had to buy because they were so damn cheap.)

Today (Sunday) was mostly spent putting the new unit up and moving things around. James and flat pack furniture do not go well together, he gets so frustrated! I also got the chance to go and meet my friend in town for a coffee and a catch up which was nice and something I definately need to start doing more. I also picked up some bits for Archer's party next week from Home Bargains. We've gone for a good old monochrome theme and I'll possibly do a seperate post on party decor but I seriously can't wait to see it all set up. I hope it looks like it does in my mind!

Other happy moments this weekend? Well my giant parcel of clothes in the Zara sale arrived and I'm loving them. All for the kids of course, never for me (!) Zara are getting rid of their AW16 collection to make way for the spring summer range and so there's a massive sale on. I love Autumn colours - the rusty red and oranges are right up my street and so I'm sure the kids will get lots of use out of them even if we are heading towards warmer weather.

I'm linking up with Katy over at What Katy Said and Sian over at Quite Frankly She Said for the Happy Days linky. One of my favourite linkies of all time.
