Some fresh air...

Thursday 23 February 2017

After my post on lethargy last week I made a concious effort to get out of the house in the days that followed. In all honesty I've felt myself slipping into a black hole lately and past experience tells me I need to claw myself back out of it before I'm in to deep. It's half term next week and by god will I need all the energy going and I just can't be this way when I have two children who need entertaining. And so I'm starting again. Starting as I mean to go on.

It's a thing of beauty how doing something you love can re-set your whole mind set. My favourite thing is going for a walk with my camera. It's such a simple thing but god it puts me in such a good frame of mind. It's something I'd fallen out of love with recently thanks to the lethargy, or at least I told myself I had, but actually forcing myself to get out of the house, with my boys, and our camera, was the best thing I could have done for escaping the black hole.

We didn't walk for long because it was wet and freezing. The wet I don't mind so much but the cold gets to me easily. I have brittle bones! & I worry about Archer in the bitter wind because he seems to catch every cold going. He gets that from me I think, his crappy immune system.
So we walked for about 20 minutes, down the river and back again. At which point we decided we'd earned a brew in the local cafe. There's something about this particular cafe I love. It's not the food, which honestly is average at best, it's more the fact that it's so quiet and un-assuming. Nobody bats an eyelid if your child is being noisy (usually because we're the only ones there) Plus they have a squashy sofa and a big tele. And a free bouncy castle outside in the summer, so what more could you want?

Here are some photos of the morning. I like them. Lots of father and son moments. Plus Archer being cheeky in the cafe. He kept tipping himself sideways out of his high chair and cackling like a mad man. Feeding James his toast and watching the tv wth the most gormless expression that I had to snap a few photos, if not just to laugh at in the future! and how cute is his little expression in the last photo when he's being told off by his dad!? You can see why he's got us wrapped round his little finger cant you.
