Filey Diaries Day 1 + 2

Wednesday 29 March 2017

So, we're in Filey for the week, woo! I naively didn't set any posts to schedule whilst I'm away, thinking I could post as I went along. Ha. I think I had it in my head that I could sit down in the cottage of an evening whilst the kids are in bed and write a day by day account of what we've been doing. ... definitely naive as it hasn't happened that way at all! Everything about this holiday so far has been a bit of an epic fail I have to say.
It was a bit hit and miss as to whether we were going to even make it here in the first place. After feeling fine all day on Mothering Sunday I woke up in the early hours of Monday for want of a better phrase - chucking my guts up. & since then it's been pretty much consistent. God knows what's wrong with me but I feel ROTTEN. We didn't get chance to leave Leeds till mid afternoon (having paid extra for an early check in at 1 - oops!) and I have somewhat hazy memories of having my head in a plastic bag for the whole journey here, and then going to bed at 7pm when the kids did.

& today. Well. Lets just say so far today we haven't left the cottage - it's threatening to rain outside and I'm a little bit out of it on anti sickness pills and painkillers. Plus Archer has already slipped and banged his head on the coffee table leaving a massive egg.

I've gotta laugh really - otherwise I'd cry!

I wrote all the above yesterday lunchtime and didn't get round to posting, but actually the anti sickness tablets did the trick and I perked up a bit meaning we managed to get out for the afternoon. We ended up going to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, which was a lovely estate with walled gardens, mazes, a zoo and adventure playground. It was so big we didn't manage to get round it all and we discovered that Archer has the worlds biggest fear of parrots hahaha but it's definitely a place I'd like to go back to in the future.
