A Monochrome Wildlife Themed Party For Those On a Budget

Wednesday 17 May 2017

I spent a while back in January scouring Pinterest for a nice theme for Archers first birthday and being a monochrome lover it wasn't long before I decided on monochrome as the theme. As the planning progressed it actually somehow ended up being a 'Monochrome & Wildlife' theme. What a random hybrid I hear you say! & yes, it is, but I think it kind of works and best of all I was surprised at how easy it was to do!

After deciding on the monochrome theme I went straight to look at party websites to choose what bits and bobs I wanted. I ordered just about everything from Party Kitsch which is a great site that is easy to navigate as it lets you view party pieces by the theme itself.

You can choose as much or little as you like for your childs party but wanting to save on money I decided to just purchase more or less the basics which were straws, party hats and sweet bags.
I also found some plain black and white string on Amazon, perfect for making a DIY banner to keep costs down. As you'll see from the pictures above, the banner was made by pegging some photos to the string - so simple and quick to do.
I then used whatever monochome accessories I could find from Archers room to decorate the rest of the table which saved so much money I cant tell you. Here is what I used and where they can be found for anyone who is interested -

Milk bottle light - A lovely little Company via This Modern Life
Monchrome rainbow blocks - Myla & Oscar
Cloud tumbler - Buddy & the Bear
Number 1 for banner - A lovely little Company via This Modern Life
Panda print - Pumpkin & Posey

After I had finished putting it all together I felt like the table still looked a bit bare. Unwilling to spend more money I brought down Lily's animal collection from her bedroom and started placing animals on the table. Surprisingly it immediately brought the table to life and from then on our monochrome theme became a 'monochrome wildlife' theme instead! To re-inforce the wildlife theme I added a few more wildlife related items - A lovely panda print from Pumpkin and Posey as well as a large Zebra balloon from Party Kitsch.

Overall I'm really chuffed with how it looked, and how simple it was to do. I will definitely be doing something like this again next year! If there's anything specific I might have missed off the list please let me know and I'll be happy to try and help. Please note the Zebra's on the cake are not actual cake toppers but plastic animals!
