Fun with Lottie Dolls - Review

Lily's favourite thing at the moment is to play the role of caregiver. Whether she's a mummy, teacher, nurse, her poor dolls are dragged around with her everywhere and constantly being attended to. 

I love that she's in to dolls. It's very sweet and I like seeing her maternal side. Dolls have also come a long way from when I was her age - the ones I had at four years old were quite frankly hideous. I look back at the old photographs my mum has and the sight of my favourite doll back then makes me cringe. It's like no thought had been put in to the design and it more or less looked like something out of a horror movie. (especially when later on down the line it lost one of it's eyes, and I still insisted on carrying it around..)

Nowadays however it seems like a lot more thought and care are put in to designing dolls for children. None more so than Lottie dolls. 

The design of Lottie dolls are nothing short of amazing. When Lily received her two chosen Lottie dolls in the post I was really struck by the amount of thought that had gone in to the design of them. The hair and clothing are incredibly realistic which ties in with one of their mottos which is 'inspired by real kids.' Lottie Dolls also state that in regards to their design that they are 'made to be age appropriate and relate-able, wearing no make up or jewellery and are able to stand on their own two feet' 

Beside from the actual design of these dolls I adore the ethos behind them. Lottie dolls are all about being positive role models which I wholeheartedly support. Each dolls has it's own little character complete with back story which is a fabulous way of introducing role models to children of Lily's age.

When looking at the dolls Lily went for the 'School days Lottie' without any hesitation. As she's starting school in September and it's ALL she talks about, this doll is really one she can relate to.

After going through this particular Lottie's back story together I've caught her talking to the doll about school a fair few times which is the sweetest thing! The accessories that this doll comes with needs to be mentioned as there's so just many - a navy pinafore, socks and white shirt, remove-able rucksack, mary jane shoes and glasses and ten special collectable leadership cards. The leadership cards in particular are really special as they have motivational sayings on that are relevant to a school environment, yet another sign of how much thought has been put in to these dolls. 

Lily also went for the 'Pandoras Box Lottie doll.' As a big animal lover I think she was drawn to this one and she also stated that she wanted her outfit, which helped in the decision I'm sure! Her back story is ..'Lottie is volunteering at Branksea animal shelter, helping to look after the homeless cats and dogs. One day a cardboard box is mysteriously left outside the front door with a hungry and frightened persian cat inside. They decide to name her Pandora. Lottie helps to nurse Pandora back to health and makes sure her that her furry coats is kept clean and fluffy. Adopting a shelter pet as a family is a powerful lesson in nurturing. Allowing children to interact with animals is a great lesson in the benefits of extending kindness to others.'

The Pandoras box Lottie doll comes with a full outfit including removable boots, hat and glasses. You can also buy separately an accessory kit that includes the cat itself and items to help take care of it (such as cat food and a bed) 

If you are looking for a new and highly innovative doll for your little one that wont break the bank, I would highly recommend.
