Baby Wilfs Woodland themed Photo Shoot

Wednesday 8 November 2017

A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to do a newborn photo shoot for the gorgeous baby Wilf. It was the first newborn photo shoot I'd done aside from Archers which felt like a billion years ago and let me tell you it was a totally different experience. Baby Wilf is a dream!

I read up on all the tips and safety measures for photographing a newborn before hand although most of them just require common sense (make sure the house is warm, the baby is in a safe place etc) and we got started.

We knew that we wanted the photo shoot to be based at least loosely on a woodland theme and so the first thing we did was send Becca's husband Andrew out into the garden to saw down some tree branches (I'm honestly not even kidding!)

The first shots I took were the most basic ones of the shoot, quite simply just Wilf sleeping in his basket and these are actually some of my favourite shots, beautiful and understatedly so. It helps that the basket that Becca & Andrew have for Wilf is gorgeous as is his grey sleep pod made especially for Wilf by his super talented grandma.

Doesn't he look comfy!

Next up we put those tree branches to good use. Combined with the pine cones it gave off the perfect woodland feel.

His little chin in these pictures are just my favourite ever thing!

We made a makeshift autumnal garland by chopping up some flowers of Beccas. I really like this look however if I could go back I'd swap the muslin cloth underneath Wilf for something with a thicker fabric to enhance the look. I'm pretty much obsessed with Wilfs outfit in this pic - The introducing sleepsuit is from Blueberry Boo Kids and can be found here and the fabric crown is from H&M.

For these shots I sort of messed around with some props having no real plan or look in mind. However I really like the way they turned out! As ridiculous as the antlers may be they look super cute and the mustard rabbit from is so lovely, I want one for myself!

Finally, the bunny photos! Beccas mum who is seriously talented made this outfit for Wilf and isn't it just the best thing you've seen? He makes THE most adorable bunny rabbit.

I enjoyed doing this shoot so much. It's given me a taste for newborn photography now and I really hope it's something I can continue to pursue in the future. It really helped that Wilf was a dream baby, sleeping on the blankets like a little angel and staying quiet even through several outfits changes! Such a contrast to Archers shoot where he wouldn't stay still for a second! Thanks for being the perfect model baby Wilf. I hope you enjoy looking back at these photos in years to come, when your mum plasters one of the bunny outfit pictures on top of your 18th birthday cake, in front of all your mates!
