October Through my Phone

Sunday 5 November 2017

The through my phone series has been on a bit of a unplanned hiatus as I've been in the habit of taking the big camera out with me lately more or less meaning my camera roll has been eerily empty.

However I was scrolling my camera roll this morning, avoiding tidying up the play-doh that Lily  'absolutely promised' she'd put away before school and came to the conclusion that October, my favourite month of the year, would be the perfect month to get back in to the phone series again. I actually ended up spending a good hour on my through the phone tag and it made me rather emotional. All the imperfect grainy selfies, photos of the kids play fighting, jumping on furniture and generally being happy. The lost ordinary moments that are captured and then deleted or lost in the ether because the quality isn't insta worthy enough. I'd have forgotten about so many of these moments it wasn't for these years worth of collages collected through this tag.

As you can see our October has been full of pumpkin patch trips (yes plural!) baby cuddles with my little nephew & plenty of inspirational quotes which I've really been digging at the moment! As well as Lily's autumn themed birthday party and lots of walks in the leaves. What more could you want out of a month?

We had a nice trip at the start of the month to Temple Newsam where we found a beautiful empty green house full of wild flowers (hence all the flower snaps!) It was such a nice afternoon I think I'll be remembering that particular day for a long time. It's kinda strange to think that was at the start of the month actually since it feels like just a week or so ago. October has flown by and I'd quite happily do the month all over again. (Or not because we're one month closer to Christmas now!)

Another highlight of the month was the photo shoot we did on the morning of Lily's birthday. I love the way the photos turned out and I think I'll be finding a way to get crowns and wands in to all my pictures now!

I've been loving the orange tones and all the pumpkin photos I've been seeing on my feed lately and in all honesty I'm going to be sad to see it go! But I'm so looking forward to November - the frost, fireworks and obviously the countdown to Christmas. Last Christmas was so rubbish, a bad time for the family as a whole for personal reasons and Archer spending the day poorly on top of that meant we barely celebrated. It's not one I look back on with fondness. And so this year I'm fully intent on making up for last, I'm feeling the Christmas spirit already!

Me and James also have a little mini UK getaway planned for the last week of Nov too. It's the first time we've been away together without the kids since they came along and I'm so so excited for us to spend some time just being us.

    1. Definitely! Even if you dont feel the ordinary moments are worth capturing at the time, you wont feel that way when you look back over them in several years time, you'll be grateful that you did x

  3. Gorgeous photos! I’m a big fan of the nine Insta-worthy pictures & I’ve recently stopped caring so much about how clean looking & slick my insta is, which has been freeing in many ways! & we love Temple Newsam ☺️ xx

  7. I so need to start taking in the moment photos for my memories because I too am so guilty of only taking insta worthy photos and delete the perfectly grainy ones! You’ve made it my mission ox
