Siblings in November

Wednesday 15 November 2017

Every time it gets to this time of the month and I realise its Siblings linky time I think oh f*ck, I've got no photos this month! Then I delve into my folder and realise actually I have waaay more than I think!

This month is no different. Although I haven't really taken many in the last week or so thanks to both kids being poorly I have some snaps to fall back on from earlier in the month and from the end of last month that I absolutely adore.

Although these two photos aren't anything particularly exciting they really make me smile. They're from a recent afternoon spent playing in the garden, Lily spying on the neighbours like the nosey little thing that she is and Archer watching on in interest. It makes me wonder whether we'll still be in this house by the time he's tall enough to spy through that very same hole in the fence.

The photos below are from Lily's birthday walk and can be found here along with lots of other snaps from the walk. These are my favourites of the pair of them though and as you can probably gather Lily is very much the leader with Archer following dutifully behind.

It's funny how different their dynamic is outside compared to indoors. Whilst outside Archer is very much a follower, trusting that his older sister is much more familiar with the outdoor world than he himself is, indoors is a whole different story as he's very much the boss. Or likes to think he is. He doesn't like to interact with Lily and her games much unless it's to come over and kick over whatever she's playing with on purpose. He mostly leaves her to it and does his own thing when it comes to playing at home, choosing his toy cars and trains over just about anything else.

I do so look forward to the day that they play with each other properly though as I feel like their interests and attentions spans are so individual, considering they're both at such different life stages that I'm constantly going back and forth between them and helping them play with whatever they have out. It's non stop and frankly exhausting!

Archer's jealousy has been another huge issue lately too. Something that I need to work harder on tackling head on. I've never shied away from the fact that he's a very 'clingy' (kinda hate that word) child but it's getting a little bit out of control now. He hates Lily sitting on my knee or hugging me, he goes absolutely mental and shouts MUMMY MINE and proceeds to whack her. Has anyone else dealt with this from the younger siblings? I'd love to hear how you handled it or if you have any tips.

Next month is obviously Christmas and I'm so excited for the kids reactions to it! Archer's especially as it will be the first year he really gets the excitement surrounding it all I think. Eek, it can't come quickly enough!

  1. My little boy definitely had a "mine mummy" phase and even now if one of the girls is cuddled up with me he'll come to join in to make sure that I'm still his, but he was always OK with the girls, it was his Daddy who really got the stern faces! I suspect it's just something they grow through - my eldest as a baby always looked absolutely horrified if anyone tried to take her from me but she's very independent now!

    1. Haha anyone who so much as tries to talk to me gets a stern face from Arch! As much as I love that he's a mummys boy I do hope it's a phase that passes x
