Day in the life - 14.12.17

Sunday 24 December 2017

A day in the life style photo post is a post I've been meaning to do for agges.

I was inspired after reading the lovely Amber over at Meet the Wildes latest day in the life and I'm really on board with what it's all about. Capturing the mundane. The beautiful and not so beautiful ordinary. No fancy photography, added frills or added touches. Just me and the kids and what we get up to during a normal day.

This day in particular was Dec 14. An average Thursday during Lily's last week of school before the Christmas hols.

The kids started the day at 6pm as per. Lily is forever up first with Archer following behind twenty minutes later. I wish they were children that happily play in their bedroom until the parents get up. But as soon as their eyes open they're straight downstairs and chaos ensues.

Because my child has the table manners of a chimpanzee.

It's time to say bye to daddy and get dressed for the school run. Sometimes Archers in bits about daddy leaving, he stands at the door and cries his eyes out. Sometimes he can barely be bothered to look over his shoulder to give a half arsed wave. Today he cried for about 30 seconds before getting over it and ambling back into the living room.

Lily searching for her advent calendar.

It's time to set off for school. I wont be picturing Lily in her uniform but here's Archer all togged up. (after rifling through the kitchen cupboards for snacks..)

We walk through the woods to Lily's school. I look forward to the route each day and feel very blessed to have all this on our doorstep.

After school there's a trip to nanny's house

Archer has a routine with grandad of climbing the stairs to reach the jar of buttons in the spare room, buttons collected once upon a time by his great grandma. Each time he arrives at nanny and grandads the first thing he says is 'badad, stairs.' and they climb the stairs to play with the buttons awhile.

I love how retro my mums decorations are!

A bit more play before bedtime and the chaos of getting them into bed begins. The photo below makes me laugh so much..my face plus two children climbing on me, it literally sums up how you feel as a parent by the end of the day!
We usually let them play together for twenty minutes in Lily's bedroom before separating them for bed. Archer cries every single time!
Peace at last!
