22 Weeks Pregnant

Thursday 8 October 2015

I've not done a pregnancy update for so long. Infact I think the last update I did was this one at 14 Weeks. In some ways lots has changed but a lot of things are still the same too.

I dont have much of an excuse of for lack of updates other than the fact that I've just been so unwell this entire pregnancy and it seems never ending, blogging in general has been put to the side a little bit.

So the main difference between now and 14 weeks is that the sickness has gone. No more hyperemesis! Although I still have the odd nauseous day here and there I haven't actually been sick in ages and I'm back to my old self. If I remember correctly it slowly started getting better at 14 weeks and by 17 weeks I was having more good days than bad. It's such a relief because I thought I was going to be ill right up until February and I'm so thankful that I'm not.

The next big change is movement. I started feeling movement at 17 weeks (I was 18 weeks with Lily) and I just love it. It started off with that strange but unmistakable pulse in my lower stomach and now it's much more like proper little rolls and kicks. I even started seeing the movement on the outside at 19 weeks and I'm shocked at how strong the movement seems to be! It's really continual too, which is reassuring, but a bit of a bugger when Im trying to sleep at night haha.

I had my anatomy scan on Thursday 24th Sept at exactly 20 weeks. It was such a nice experience - the sonographer was lovely and really took her time in showing us the baby and we had such a clear view, it was probably one of the clearest scans I've ever had. Everything looks fine with the baby which is great and we're still choosing to not find out the gender which is super exciting. I left the scan thinking it was definately a girl but now I'm really thinking boy so I just dont know!

My bump is absolutely massive compared to 15 weeks and I'm seeing other changes in my body now that I hadn't noticed before. Mainly my arms and thighs getting bigger haha and my awful pregnancy skin - but no stretch marks yet so fingers crossed it stays that way!

Other symptoms are migraines, which are pretty much daily right now, braxton hicks and an increased appetite. Since I've stopped feeling sick I've been eating like a horse and I've put on nearly a stone and a half already. My starting weight was 8 stone 6lbs and I'm already at 9 stone 11lbs which seems like a fast weight gain to say I'm only halfway through. Although to be honest it's my own fault since my healthy eating plan went completely out of the window on day one. I do intend to pull it back at some point and get back on plan but whilst my migraines are so regular and my energy levels are so low I can't help but crave sugary foods and I don't have any sort of enthusiasm to change that right now.

As for the braxton hicks, I'm presuming that's what they are as I didnt ever get them with Lily. I keep getting strong cramps that go round to my back and my bump keeps going hard and it will last for hours after it first starts. It can be quite uncomfortable and always seems to come on after I've been walking anywhere so I'm wondering if its my body's way of telling me I'm doing too much!

I do intend to start doing regular pregnancy posts again but if I do start slacking check out my YouTube channel as I update there much more regularly!

  2. Ahhh this is so exciting!! So glad youre not having sickness anymore! I had hyperemesis with both of my first pregnancies...one until 28 weeks and one until 17 weeks...so to not have it this time has been amazing! Its SO awful when you feel so ill all the time isnt it!! Your bump looks lovely!! :) xx
