My Dream Bedroom

Out of all the rooms in our house, our bedroom is the one I've wanted to do up for the longest. Whilst Lily's room is completely finished and the living room is on its way to completion, the bedroom still remains largely untouched. I'm not really sure why to be honest, I guess it's just a mixture of a lack of funds, a lack of time and other priorities within the house. However now that we've been living in this house for almost 2 years I've decided it's about time I create a space for myself that I can relax in and feel proud of.
When it comes to bedrooms I've always been a big believer of the saying 'less is more.' Whilst Lily's room and the front room has that sort of cluttered appeal to it, I like the idea of my bedroom being light, spacious and airy. This is why I've chosen a white theme on my design board as I really think white can completely open up a room, creating space and presenting the room in a clear and bright way.

The first two things I'd change about my bedroom is the bed and the curtains, both of which are brown. I had a brown bedroom in my old house which really darkened the room and quite frankly it's time for my bed to go, I've had it for longer than I can remember! In its place I've chosen this white stain Ikea bed frame, totally my style and how comfy does it look!? This Catherine Lansfield Annabella duck egg bedspread is gorgeous and compliments it perfectly. This bedspread is by Yorkshire Linen. Along with the bed I'd get rid of the horrible beige and dark brown curtains which came with the house and we still have currently. I'd swap them for this Holly Lace Panel in white from Yorkshire Linen - totally affordable and will really add to the 'airy' feel of the room.

I've been looking for a simple white beside table for a while now and came across this one from Ikea. It's exactly what I've been imagining and has an added bonus of wireless charging - what more could you want! This cream wool rug from I Love Retro is my ideal kind of rug, although it's pretty pricey so I think I might have to search for a cheaper alternative! ;)

Now to add the fillers - lights, decorative pieces etc. Like I mentioned, I like my bedroom to be fairly bare and basic to give the room a fresh and open feel but no bedroom is complete without a few bits and bobs! This 'There's No Place like Home' print is super cute and would look great above the bed and this ceramic box from H&M is lovely and so affordable at £3.99. This storage bag, also from H&M, is a little bit different to what I'd usually go for but I really like it and it would be ideal for packing items away that might otherwise be a bit of an eyesore in the room (dirty laundry perhaps!)

Finally I found this free standing over-sized star lamp in BHS and thought it would act as the perfect statement piece sat on the Ikea bedside table.

So there we have it.. my ideal bedroom. I'm already dreaming of a fresh, lighter and more modernized room to put my feet up in on an evening.. now to make it happen!

What kind of colour scheme do you have in your bedroom? Do you have a particular theme?
