KidloLand Children's App Review

Monday 11 July 2016

I'm always a bit wary when it comes to kids apps for Ipads and phones. Mainly because they take up a lot of time with not a whole lot of benefit for the child. I can't sit here and say that I'm one of those parents who doesn't let their child use technology because I'm not - Lily watches more tele and films than she probably should and she gets to play on the Cbeebies app after bath time but in general I'd honestly much rather she played in the garden or did some crafts.

When Kidloland got in contact and asked if I wanted to review their Kidloland app I thought it would be an app that Lily used once in a blue moon but actually I dont mind letting her spend time on it because it seems to have taught her so much in such a short amount of time.

Kidloland is an app for pre schoolers that aims to encourage learning via colourful animations, nursery rhymes, educational songs and games. Lily's obsessed with the games and she's so proud of herself when she achieves something, she keeps shouting me over to proudly show me! This app has actually made me realise that Lily knows a whole lot more than I thought she did, from names of shapes to really obscure vegetables haha. In less than a week she's already picked up on a lot of the alphabet from the app which was specifically something she wasn't all that interested in learning about before (this kid is usually all about numbers!)  Whilst with the cbeebies app Lily tends to get bored after 5 or 10 minutes I've noticed that with the kidloland app Lily is happy to play with it for ages which I have to admit has really surprised me. The nursery rhymes section she's not too fussed about but she puts them on for Archer who LOVES them so we're managing to get good use out of everything!

As well as how much Lily seems to be learning I'm also really impressed with the sheer amount there is to do on this app. For a years subscription costing £29.99 you certainly get a whole lot for your money which is great. The only downside to this is that if you're wanting to download everything from the app it can take up a fair bit of space on your ipad, but well worth it if you've got the space to spare I'd say.

  1. We’ve had this app for some time as it’s one that the little man always goes back to. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
