Weekend Watch - Enjoying the mundane

Tuesday 21 March 2017

I'll be honest - Weekends like the one that's just been are usually the weekends that I don't bother to write up. The days that I skip out the weekend watch post. & that's normally because there's just not all that much to write home about. But today I want to write about the mundane, because honestly I'm so damn lucky to get to have these days as my mundane days and I want to remind myself of that more often. Also, these weekend are the days that I want to look back and remember just as much as the doing something new kind of weekends. Days of lazing around in my pyjamas with my little people - simultaneously feeling like I have cabin fever, but also not being arsed enough to actually get up, dressed and do something about it. These days happen a lot. But they're still something to be celebrated as much as the exciting ones, and definitely something to be documented. Because I'll look back on these lazy day's with such fondness, I know I will.

So first of all lets talk about failed Easter photo shoots. Because that was great fun. (feeeeeel the sarcasm)
It was something I decided to with Archer on a whim after his cute little Easter outfit arrived in the post on Saturday morning. However what I didn't add into the mix was just how much my child does not keep still. And therefore the images I had in my mind (something along the lines of him cuddling a giant rabbit in his super cute outfit) actually turned in about 90 photos that resembled nothing more than a blurry mess. Along with about ten photos of him bashing said rabbit up and down on the surface really rather violently. Sigh.
I did manage to get a few that are just about salvage-able. Which I will probably still post on Easter if you all fancy a good laugh! and I'll post the few below that somehow managed to be saved from the blurry mess of the rest of them, but still definitely aren't good enough to post on Easter Sunday. Those in-between kind of photos you never know what to do with basically haha.

Aside from a failed Easter shoot, Saturday also consisted of a game of 'cinemas' with Lily. Where by we gather up every soft toy and figurine she owns and line them all up on the sofa. Then we shut the curtains and choose a film and pretend we're at the cinema. After a short battle of whether we should have Aladdin or Enchanted, Enchanted won out, and so we spent the next 2 hours in blissful film watching peace. (I should add that Arch was napping at this point and only woke up for the last 15 minutes of the film - parenting win!)

Sunday I attempted to tidy and Archer did a lot of climbing things he shouldn't and generally getting in the way. (see last photo.) I think I gave up after about half an hour - the final straw being when he tipped an entire box of lego back on the floor that I'd JUST put away. I got to go for a kid free coffee at our local cafe with my little brother Sunday lunch time too. That was a luxury. I even treated myself to a slice of chocolate orange cake complete with jaffa cake stuck on top - literally amazing.
