After speaking to a good blogging friend of mine earlier in the week I was reminded how long it's been since I've done a weekend watch post.
I've been focusing a lot on my week in pictures series that generally tends to include what we get up to over the weekend too but the first weekend of the summer holidays seems a good place to get back in to documenting our weekend adventures.
This weekend I re-discovered my love for early morning walks.
I've always loved getting up early to go for walks. With no-one around, the air feels still and fresher when half the world is still asleep. It's all that much more tranquil. And satisfying.
(and busy places stress me the f*ck out!! )
On Sunday we got up early and took a walk through my favourite wood. A Wood we don't visit all that often because it's a trek and a half but woods that hold a special place in my heart all the same. I want to make more of an effort to visit this summer hols because that light feeling I get when I go there never changes, no matter how long it's been.
We got lucky on Sunday. The sun was determinedly shining, even at 9am, the light was so golden, possibly as golden as I've ever seen it and as a result I think these are some of my favourite photos ever, ever ever.
We have a few busy weekends coming up. Birthday parties, christenings and pre arranged meet ups. Enough planned to probably see us through to September when Lily returns to school actually, so I'm glad we made the effort to do this together this weekend, our one weekend of no plans. We've started the summer holidays off right.
