This week has been a bit of a productive week for me. I've recently started successfully putting Archer down for naps in his moses basket during the day (thanks white noise!) which has enabled me to get more done whilst he sleeps. I've decided to start tackling the house as I've let it slide a lot lately and as a result it's looking the worst its ever looked. My plan is to work my way through the house bit by bit, room by room and each week I'll be working on a different part of the house till I'm happy.

This week I decided to start on the kids' rooms.

About a month ago we made the decision to transition Lily to a toddler bed, (You can read about that here) and I thought I would do an update - a month later - about how the transition has gone and whether it worked for us.

Update On Lily's Transition To A Toddler Bed

Thursday, 15 October 2015

This topic is a topic I go back and forth with numerous times a week.

When children turn three they get fifteen free hours from the government to go to a nursery, play scheme or child minder. However the way it works is that it's the term after you turn three unless you have circumstantial reasons for your child to go sooner.

Child’s birthdayWhen you can claim
1 January to 31 Marchthe beginning of term on or after 1 April
1 April to 31 Augustthe beginning of term on or after 1 September
1 September to 31 Decemberthe beginning of term on or after 1 January
This means that Lily will be a little over 3 and 2 months when she gets her free hours which I'll be honest feels like a long time to wait when I feel like she's ready now. We could of course pay nursery fees until January, and this is something we might still do, but nursery fees are expensive and I have my own reasons for wanting Lily in a Primary School based nursery and they generally don't accept children before they turn three.

Last night I sat down and made a list of all the reasons for and against having Lily go to nursery now.

Should Lily be going to nursery yet? Airing my thoughts
