I'm all about the small independent businesses found online these days. Or the 'Instagram kids shops' as they are often more casually referred to! I shopped at few for Lily, pre Archer, but my love for them really started after Archer was born and I struggled to find any boys clothing on the high street that impressed me.

The shops I found via social media, mainly Instagram, solved that problem for me and I more or less haven't looked back since. I've found that the clothing designs from these smaller businesses are so much more vibrant, unique and thought through. There's a lot less gender stereotyping within the clothes themselves, baby blues for boys and pink for girls etc and more often than not the collections are entirely unisex which I appreciate (especially as someone who was team yellow throughout her pregnancy).
Lastly, these shops are more often than not run by work at home mothers and in my opinion who better? They know their target audience to a T.

As I am a serial shopper I thought I would start a new blog series showing off my favourite collections. A lookbook series if you like, with Archer as my blissfully un-aware model (seriously he's so used to me snapping away at him with my camera that he doesn't even bat an eyelid anymore ha ha)

& who better to start with than Another Fox.

Okay first of all - WOW how hard is it to take a flat lay of clothes!? Is it just me? I just spent twenty minutes trying and then promptly gave up. I think I need someone to give me tips! But until that day comes, or until I can figure out how to get my children's clothes all in one frame (seriously?? how?!)  I guess I'm just going to have to do my outfits post flat-lay less so bear with..!

I'm joining in with This Mama Life and The Ordinary Mum for their new What my kid wore Wednesday linky as I'm big into kids fashion these days. It's the only bit of indulgence I let myself have since I never really spend on myself anymore. Not only do I quite literally never have the luxury of time to go shopping by myself I also would much rather my kids look good than me, haha. I'm sure many of you can relate.

September weather is so confusing I never know how to dress the kids! With Lily its not so bad as I can just put a cardigan on which she can take off if she gets too warm but since Arch can't tell me whether he's too hot it can be bit of a mare trying to dress him appropriately for our constantly changing weather.

Weekend Tot Style #2

It's been ages since I've done an outfit post and I want to get back in to it again because I love writing about clothes! This weekend I'll just be focusing on what Lily's wearing though as Archers been ill with a v+d bug and has been in nothing exciting.

The weathers been on and off this week but we did have one day of really hot sunshine so I took the opportunity to put Lily in one of her new dresses. This particular dress I bought in H&M last week and I adore.

I LOVE a bit of monochrome, always have always will! I've been doing a bit of online shopping recently (as per) and I've found a lot of monochrome outfits from H&M that I love.

This weekends outfit has been all about the pandas. I love panda themed clothes, there's something about pandas that are just so cute and one of the first outfits I actually bought Archie during my pregnancy was a set of panda bodysuits and vests from Asda so when I came across these leggings on Instagram I had to get them!

Buying baby boy clothes is still such a novelty to me as the last 3 years have been spent buying little girl clothes and the past 9 months have been spent buying unisex! I've heard friends who are mothers of little boys complain many times about the lack of variety in boys clothes and whilst its true that the ratio of girl to boy clothes are definitely in the girls favour in shops there's still a lot more out there than I first thought.

When it comes to boys clothes I've found that availability massively depends on what sort of style you're after. If you like clothes with trains, trucks and cartoons monsters on then you'll easily find what your looking for in most supermarkets or high street shops. However I've always preferred the monochrome look along with muted colours such as greys for boys over those baby blues that everywhere seems to stock.

A New World Of Baby Boy Clothes

I love shopping the George at Asda toddler range for Lily and now that my due date is hurtling ever closer I've allowed myself to start looking at their newborn bits too. I love how affordable George at Asda's clothing range is and yet the quality is just as durable as those from the more expensive shops so it's win win.

I've compiled together a wish list of my favourite newborn bits but because we don't know the gender of this little one I've done a separate boys and girls list below. It's been so much fun shopping for both genders!

It's been aggges since I've done one of these posts, I've been so out of the loop! So much so that my favourite fashion linky has changed name since I last joined in!

Cardigan, Next | Boots, Next | Dress, H&M | Hair slide, H&M | Tights, Primark

Excuse the fact that James is trying to persuade her to eat her cheese sandwiches in these pictures haha. What I like most about this outfit is the fact that its quite autumnal. The rusty colours of the dress and boots and the pattern on the dress all just remind me of autumn time and who doesn't love autumn! The dress I picked up for only £2.99 which is amazing and H&M had so many other dresses for the same price that I'll definitely be going back and stocking up. The boots are a new purchase too. I bought them for Autumn and hopefully some of winter but I caved and let her wear them early as they go with so many of her outfits.

Lily's Saturday Style

Sunday, 23 August 2015

I'm linking up once again with Sarah over at The Knott Bump and us for one of my favourite linky's - The Weekend Baby Style! I've been a bit absent the last couple of weekends as I've had a lot of things going on but everything's calmed down a bit now so I can get back to my favourite hobby - taking pictures of outfits ;)!

Today's outfit is a bit of a desperation outfit if I'm honest! The reason being that this dress technically doesn't fit Lily any more. It used to go past her knees and now it hardly covers her bum! James is making me do a clear out of all Lily's clothes this weekend so I thought I'd try and squeeze her in it one more time before it goes forever!

Sunday Style

The weather this week has meant I can finally bust out the summer wardrobe! Hooray! I adore this outfit, lily looks so cute in it and it's really comfy for her to wear. I'll definitely be packing it for our seaside trip next week.

Sunny OOTD

Saturday, 25 April 2015

So we've had a touch of good weather this week..and when I say a touch I mean a touch! Like, one day of sun! But I used it to my advantage and dressed Lily in some of her spring/summer clothes. I picked this white dress from Next with a long sleeved vest underneath (because lets face it..this is still the UK!) I think the dress is actually meant to be a blouse but because Lily's such a titch its more of a dress on her haha! Teamed with a blue polkadot headband from Primark and strawberry Next pumps this whole outfit looked super cute. Oh and not forgetting Lily's bride dolly which she insists on taking everywhere with her at the moment!

This weekend outfit was actually taken on a Friday..our one day of sun! We spent most of the day in the garden so I put her in casual playing clothes. I love her grey panda top! It's long sleeved but very light material so perfect for spring temperatures. It was from H&M and I think it was around £4. It's slightly oversized but I think it looks sweet! Her jeggings are from Mothercare and they were around the £10 mark. They're super stretchy and a great fit. Finally her white strawberry pumps are from Next and I'm in love with them!

'A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2015'

The 52 Project - 10/52

Tuesday, 10 March 2015

Yesterday was soo sunny and warm I loved it! It really felt like spring was here which was nice after the freak snow showers Leeds has been having in the past week. I made the most of it and put Lily in one of her spring/summer outfits I've been waiting to put her in for ages! She's wearing a plain white vest from Primark with a plain white long sleeved top over it from Next. The floral skirt she's wearing is from Miley and Moss' Etsy store and I just adore it! It's so my kind of style.. I wish they did one in my size! It was a little more than I'd usually pay for a skirt (about £20) but I know she'll get lots of wear out of it throughout the summer so I was happy to pay a little bit more in this case!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever you're up to!

Weekend Baby Style

Saturday, 7 March 2015

On Friday morning when I went to pick Lily an outfit from her draws I felt I was lacking a bit of inspiration! Recently I've been getting a bit bored of all her outfits and cant really afford to buy her anything new right now, so I thought I'd piece together some clothes I haven't really put together before. I found one of her white long sleeved tops from George at Asda that she usually wears for messy play and added a floral dribble bib from Next that she hasn't worn for at least a year! Its funny the difference something as little as a bib can make as it made the old top seem like a fresh new one! I then put her in a denim skirt with white detailing, again from George at Asda and her white and blue Mothercare tights. Mothercare tights can be pricey but I really rate them as the quality is much better than any of the other tights I've previously bought from other places. Accessories wise I put her in a gorgeous headband from Indigo Rocket.

Lily got some news clothes this week! I did a big Mothercare haul and it all arrived yesterday so been itching to put her in it all! This is the new outfit I picked for her today -

Blouse - Little Bird at Mothercare
Jeggings - Mothercare range
Shoes - Right start
Headband - The Bow Boutique

We're not doing too much today so I went for the most casual of the outfits I picked up at Mothercare (The rest were all dresses) I absolutely adore this blouse from little bird, the pattern is gorgeous and feels so spring like and the jeggings and headband go perfectly with them! I was going to take it back at first as I got it in 2-3 years and its way too big for her but after seeing it on I quite like the oversized look..plus means it will last all throughout summer so I think I wont bother getting a smaller size after all!

Anyone who knows me will know I'm obsessed with baby clothes (You can watch my baby style tag here) and since I spend so much time scouring the high street and online shops for cute outfits I thought I'd make the most of my interest/obsession and do a 'Best baby buy of the week' every Thursday :)

This weeks best baby outfit I actually spotted in Zara. It's the most gorgeous cream dress with little birds on, perfect for the upcoming spring and summer and only £15! I'm in love! Check back next thursday to see what next weeks outfit will be :)

Sunday, 15 February 2015

Its officially Friday which means I can link up with the Weekend baby style! Yay! Today Lily has a play date with her friend Dexter which equals an excuse for a nice outfit ;) She's wearing her Zara shirt which is my most recent buy (I'm obsessed with it!) a pair of white Primark tights and a denim Primark playsuit which I bought for her last summer and cant believe still fits her!

My favourite part of her outfit is this navy head wrap which I bought from Clares Accessories yesterday (Anyone from the UK remember that shop? I used to love it when I was younger) I love the colour and design on it and found it on the sale rack. Result!

What are your babies wearing this weekend?
