DIY Dolls House | Nursery Decor

Wednesday 22 April 2015

I'm really getting into crafting lately! I'm definitely not the most arty or talented person in the world and I can find crafting incredibly frustrating (but rewarding too!) however I like the idea of Lily's room having lots of things decorated or made by myself or Lily to add that personal touch.

I purchased this wooden house shelf online as I thought it would be perfect to use as a miniature dolls house for Lily's room.

The actual decorating of it was pretty basic. I painted the shelf itself a duck egg colour I've had stored away in the cupboard for yonks and then stuck some craft paper on the back of each square with super glue to make wall paper. The trickiest bit was actually measuring out each square because although they all look the same size, they really weren't! I then purchased some miniature dolls house furniture online (FYI - there are plenty of great online stores out there that provide all kinds of miniature furniture) and painted all the furniture white. That was literally it!

It's not entirely finished yet as I'm still waiting for a whole bunch of mini furniture to arrive so I can fill up every room but I'm pleased with how it's turning out.

Sure it's not the most professional looking thing in the world but that wasn't the look I was going for anyway ;) & I have to admit it looks really cute sat on Lily's shelf!

Have you done any DIY projects in your children's rooms recently?
