Dreaming of a Dream House

Tuesday 18 August 2015

I have this dream about me and James one day being able to afford to do up our own house from scratch and see it grow from nothing into a dream home.

Years of watching back to back episodes of Homes under the Hammer has led to me to feel like I know all the tips and tricks to renovating a home and whilst I know in reality so few people actually get to carry building work like this out, it doesn't hurt to dream right?

When I picture my dream house I picture a white pickett fence and a big conservatory round the back with large windows that let in a ton of light. I picture the kids rooms being side by side on a separate landing, their own little space, and I picture a loft room at the top of the house for me and James, our own little space.

In the very first house I grew up in I got to have the loft room and I remember it being just the most beautiful space. I had gorgeous roof windows above my bed and I have this memory of lying on my bed one Christmas eve, listening out for santa and watching the snow fall from the sky until it slowly covered up the entire window. It's one of my favourite Christmas eve memories, I was so content at that time, and ever since having that bedroom I've always envisioned my future bedroom in our dream house to have those exact same roof windows above our bed.

Of course I go one step further these days and picture just how I'd decorate this loft bedroom of ours and my day dreams usually tend to involve a four poster bed, perhaps from The White Company, bedroom storage from The White Light House Furniture and the perfect blinds for my gorgeous windows from the company VELUX.

I love the clean and tidy feel white furniture gives. Image courtesy of thewhitelighthousefurniture.co.uk

Whose to say whether we'll ever get to build our dream house. I hope we do, one day, but in the meantime it's fun to dream.
