The Holidays Are Over

Tuesday 5 January 2016

These holidays have been our last before the baby arrives and I'm a little sad that they sped by so fast. I always think the days in the run up to Christmas go so slow and once Christmas has been and gone the rest of the days just disappear. This year has been no different!

We've had a really nice last week off together actually. We haven't been able to do much because of my sciatica but we managed to fit a few short walks in. Most of the time has been spent indoors which I thought would send me stir crazy but I've actually enjoyed it. Lily's been as good as gold this week and with so many new Christmas toys to play with she's just been really content. She's starting nursery again which I'm a little anxious about as after 2 weeks off I'm thinking she might go back to being shy and clingy to me and it took us a while to get over that hurdle the first time. After having naps most days this holiday she'll have to get back into the routine of no naps on her nursery days so I'm expecting her to be cranky the first few weeks till she gets back into a routine.

I wasn't originally planning on doing anything for New Years Eve but ended up going for a cheese, wine and board games night with my friends which was lovely and I'm glad I made the effort to go. My first sober new years in 11 years but I was more than happy sitting with my mug of non alcoholic mulled wine. Plus no hangover in the morning of course!

New years day was a lazy day featuring lots of episodes of Luther with James and lots of play dough games with Lil. Saturday we went to a few baby shops and ended up buying Lily a new car seat along with a swaddle blanket and sleep suit for the baby. Lily was soo cute as we were looking round the shops, she kept running up to everything and shouting 'mummy, daddy, our baby will LOVE this!' much to the sales womans amusement haha. Everything she was picking out was pink though so something tells me she'll be less amused if she has a brother and there's lots of blue about!

I'll leave you with a few pictures of the last few days. Like I said, I'm sad the holidays are over but part of me is looking forward to getting back to the normality of our routine too.
