I snapped this photo of lily posing in her ballet tutu on a rainy Saturday morning. she refused to take the thing off bless her! this photo isn't great quality as I didn't have time to grab my usual DSLR before snapping away but it still captures her beauty perfectly

The 52 Project - 22/52

Sunday 31 May 2015

I was tagged by the lovely Emily at Emily and Indiana some weeks ago to do the 50 things that make me happy Tag. I like this tag. It's a bit of fun and thinking about some of the things that make me happy has really made me smile! I thought it might be quite difficult to thing of 50 things off the top of my head but it was easier than I thought. So here they are (and in no particular order!)

50 things that make me happy

Saturday 30 May 2015

How are we at the end of May already!? It's nuts! This months photo was taken by my dad and it makes me laugh every time I look at it. He was trying to get us to look at the camera and smile but Lily was in the middle of telling me one of her funny long winded stories (they usually involve dragons..) and she wasn't about to interrupt her tale just to do cheese! So he snapped this picture of us mid conversation instead

Head on over to Nicola at Life Through My Eyes to check out everyone else's Mummy and Me photos from this month!

Mummy and Me - May

Friday 29 May 2015

I haven't really posted in a while. Well, like a week and a half but that's quite a while for me haha. I've been working my way through reviews but haven't sat down to write a lifestyle post in a while and in doing so I've realised my blog might be starting to go in a direction I don't want it to. That's not to say I don't love doing reviews because I do genuinely enjoy writing them but this blog is supposed to be a record of what's going on in mine and Lily's lives and I have to be honest and say I've been neglecting that side of late. I don't really have a solid excuse to be honest, I've just had a lack of energy recently and anyone whose TTC knows how soul destroying it can be to see that negative test each month. Add that on top of the amount of migraines I've had been having recently and it's all just got a bit on top of me!

With that being said today was one of those days that made me want to write. And for that I'm grateful.

So onto today. It was just one of those days that made me smile from ear to ear. Nothing particularly big just lots of little things. Lily was in a great mood and had me in hysterics with the things she was coming out with. She has such a sense of humour on her!

The 52 Project - 21/52

Tuesday 26 May 2015

I was delighted when last week the lovely company 'Baker Days' got in contact and offered to send us one of their letterbox cakes to review, I mean, who doesnt love cake!?

Cunningly clever little cakes for one or two of you. This small, perfectly proportioned cake is the baby of our family. It's the thoughtful gift that will totally delight a loved one. This brilliant cake, as it's name suggests, can arrive through the post, just like a Birthday card. Cakes by post, it's the future!Baker Days' 5" letterbox cakes description

I've been really struggling with my photography recently. I love taking photographs and have been thinking about taking it further but I'm a bit unsure about what my style is. I definitely prefer capturing moments where the subject doesn't know I'm taking the picture (okay that sounds kind of creepy but you know what I mean haha) as opposed to 'posed' pictures but I've been feeling pretty uninspired of late.

Finding my Photography Style

I have a thing about coffee shops. I always have done. It's my dream to one day own my own..hopefully in the gorgeous little village I've envisioned me and James living in one day ;)

There's something about them I find so relaxing. And I don't really mean the large coffee chains like Costa and Starbucks that are always busy and noisy, I mean the little ones. The ones that no-one knows about, the ones with the pretty decor tucked away somewhere and you come across them and feel really smug that no-one else knows about it.

The 52 Project - 20/52

Monday 18 May 2015

First of all, notice I say the odd day, haha. I mean don't get me wrong, I love sunshine as much as the next cold and fed up Brit but yesterday's down pour really reminded me what good fun the rain can be.
Lily brushing her teeth before bed
Do you brush your child's teeth as often as you should? A recent national dental health survey has shown that nearly half of 8 year olds and a third of 5 year olds have signs of decay in their milk teeth! This is a shocking revelation and hits home the need to make sure you regularly brush your children's teeth morning and night (or make sure they do it properly themselves if they are old enough!).

Lily absolutely loves her teeth being brushed (although it was a struggle at first). It's all part of her 'big girl' routine and on the odd occasion where she might not want to cooperate, she soon changes her mind with a "Oh, I thought you were a big girl?". Luckily because Lily loves having her teeth brushed so much, usually the first thing she says in the morning or last thing she says at night is "Oh no, Daddy hasn't brushed my teeth yet!" even before we've had chance!

Lily loves to run the toothbrush under the tap herself, put the toothpaste on herself, and thankfully also brush her teeth herself. She always goes first and does her best (she's definitely getting more thorough as she mimics our actions) and then when she's finished doing her part she'll always announce "It's Daddy's turn now" where James then brushes her teeth properly to make doubly sure!

The 52 Project - 19/52

Monday 11 May 2015

I'm linking up once again with Sarah over at The Knott Bump and us for one of my favourite linky's - The Weekend Baby Style! I've been a bit absent the last couple of weekends as I've had a lot of things going on but everything's calmed down a bit now so I can get back to my favourite hobby - taking pictures of outfits ;)!

Today's outfit is a bit of a desperation outfit if I'm honest! The reason being that this dress technically doesn't fit Lily any more. It used to go past her knees and now it hardly covers her bum! James is making me do a clear out of all Lily's clothes this weekend so I thought I'd try and squeeze her in it one more time before it goes forever!

Sunday Style

Sunday 10 May 2015

'Mummy, can we go to grannys house today?' is something I hear every single morning without fail and to be honest it drives me a little crazy!

I should probably explain that my mum, Lily's granny, is a child minder and her house is basically a children's paradise. She has a giant playroom with more toys crammed into it than you'd think possible, any game that Lily could desire and the cherry on the cake is that there's always kids running around for Lily to play with!

Why Nothing Compares to Granny's House...

Friday 8 May 2015

Nemo and Giraffe is a childrens book written by Lee Hunter, a child minder from Scotland who aims to help young children form positive relationships with cats and all pets by encouraging them to learn how to care for them from a young age. Lee Hunter also strives to get across valuable life lessons such as friendship and equality, both of which are consistent themes that run throughout the book.

Best friends can look like anything, no two are the same.Nemo and Giraffe

When the author first contacted me to talk about the ideas behind her book I must admit I was curious to take a look. Having a child minding background myself and seeing how the children can be around my own two cats means I can totally identify with Lee's belief that children need to be helped to understand how to behave around animals from a young age. I am so glad that this is a message that she is trying to get across.

*First of all let me apologise for the lateness of this post. I thought I'd scheduled them for the appropriate days but hadn't actually! So instead I've just put both posts into one.

She ran towards the waves with complete abandon. Her lack of fear both pleases and terrifies me on a daily basis.

18/52 - The 52 Project

I'm the kind of person that is constantly making lists of things I need to do..I neeeed lists in my life to function, otherwise I completely forget half the things I want to do as I'm such a scatterbrain! I was thinking last night about little things I wanted to do in the upcoming weeks and decided it would be a good idea to start a monthly bucket list to keep track of the goals I've set myself and remind myself to achieve them.
